To save a song from Garageband to Showbie, first tap Select:
Next, tap on your song and then the share menu:
In the next window, tap on Open In…:
Now you can choose the settings for your song. Unless you need to change them to something specific, we recommend using the default settings. Once set, tap Share:
Finally, select Showbie and then choose an assignment or student folder:

This only lets me save finished Garageband projects as audio files. How can I save an unfinished Garageband project that can be returned to later for further editing?

This is not possible at present until Apple change the way GarageBand exports files. It will only save the mixed audio file to Showbie – but at least it allows you to 1. Hear the work, 2. Play it to the class if you’re connected to the screen. This feature is something many of us have been waiting for, for some time now!
